Frohe Ostern! That, if you haven’t guessed, is German for „Happy Easter.“ Easter is huuuuuuge here, starting on Good Friday on through to and including not only Easter Sunday, but also Easter Monday (I am not making this up, it is actually called that.) Plus, most Germans travel during the Easter break (2 weeks off from schools), so Easter is pretty much just as big of a deal as Christmas. That is, of course, except for sending Easter cards, which still hasn’t totally caught on the way we Americans do it. Either way, I am posting one of my favorite illustrated greetings I drew probably 10 years ago of a chicken dipping baby bunnies in various pastel-colored paints. Happy Easter, everyone. #happyeaster #ostern #majestypaper
Although we have been in business for more than 10 years, I am often amazed at the fact that we have gone from a small custom printing company to a very small greeting card company, with our specialization in letterpress printing. Letterpress, a printing technique by which plates are created in order to transfer the image to the paper, is largely forgotten here in Germany, ironically the country in which it was created.
